Cotton Allergy

How awful would it be to be allergic to cotton? You couldn't wear anything or go anywhere because cotton was probably used somewhere in something you are bound to contact.

Oh hey

It feels like Anime Boston is eons away, but when you plan out a cosplay new for each year in reality it is just around the corner. The last cosplay I made from scratch was my Weeping Angel cosplay in 2011.

There I am!
That was the first and only time I wore it, the cosplay took more than a year to make, but was really a one shot deal, especially on account that I broke the harness at the end of the convention.

It was absolutely incredibly fun and amazing to wear it and see people's reactions ad receive questions and praise for it. I hope to improve on it one day.

Moreso I want to take a step into cosplays utilizing prosthetic appliances, but at the moment I just don't have the time this late in the year and no finance to support the project. I also kind of suck at sculpting so the time would need to be doubled in order for me to do a good prosthetic.

I really wanted to be the Silurian Restac though. Ah well.

But this year I'm going to start smaller and cosplay Kaylee from Firefly. She is one of my favorite characters and I honestly can't get enough of her no matter how many times I re-watch the show.

I've ordered a military jumpsuit online and am waiting for it to come in. It will look nothing like Kaylee's yet I already have plans to alter the waistline, sleeves and the lack of pockets on the suit. I also plan to add a zipper and remove the buttons on the suit. I even managed to find patches just like Kaylee's that I'll be able to sew onto it after alterations.

My only problem will be finding a "Kaylee-style" shirt to wear under the jumpsuit, and how to get it adequately filthy without washing it all out and not stinking up the con, because Lord knows we won't need any additional odors in that place.

Actually scratch that I have two problems, additionally I am faced with the dilemma of "Do I cut my hair or buy a wig?" I feel like a wig will be too artificial, but I'm also terrified of cutting my hair, it grows so poorly already and a cut seems permanent even though it's not. What if I end up hating it?

I just got to the point where I can dye my hair without anxiety, cutting is still a scary idea.

Well, anyways, I'm hoping the cosplay comes out well, I can't wait for it to come in so I can work on it.
